These breeches are made in the U.S.A. and are available
in two great fabrics and several styles.
All styles feature genuine deerskin leather
that actually becomes softer with wear and provides an excellent
grip on the saddle. The contact with the saddle provides the feeling of complete
oneness with your horse. The leather is hand selected and specially
treated to remain soft and pliable for years, and generally
outlasts the fabric on a 4 to 1 ratio. When the fabric on your
breeches does finally wear out, Equissentials will reconditon the
leather and put it on new fabric for about 60% of the
cost of a new pair. After the fourth recycle, they will
give you a free pair! So essentialy, you are buying a pair of
breeches that will last you forever!
Fabric Options:
French Terry Fabric: This wonderful 88% Cotton/12% Lycra blend
offers 120% 4-way stretch that provides complete
freedom of motion, letting you mount your horse or squat
to the floor with ease and no binding, bunching or slipping.
The fabric is densely knit on the outside, while the inside has a
soft chamois feel, with tiny loops that wick away sweat in the
summer and insulate in the winter. The feeling next to the skin is so luxurious!
You won't believe how comfortable they are. Available in
Black, Charcoal, Green Tea, Plum, Spruce, Tan,
Chocolate, Navy, Rust, and White.
Equicool: Finally, a fabric that is strong, non-pilling, has 4-way stretch,
superior moisture-wicking ability and is light enough to
wear in the summer! Comprised of 94% cotton and 6%
Lycra, it offers a comfortable solution to those of you
who ride in extreme heat and/or humidity. Available in Black, Tan, and Navy.
Style Options:
Full Seat ($166.95): The visual lines of the Deerskin full seat
are designed to be flattering on every body type.
The leather is hand cut and sewn in a fashion
that contours the hip area, rather than being rounded
through the seat. This is the best-selling style, and
is very popular with Dressage, Endurance, Trail Riding,
and schooling riders.
Dressage Patch ($139.95): Wider and longer than most patches, providing great contact with the saddle and significantly extending the fabric life. When riding, the additional contact through the upper tight area feels similar to a full seat, but your seat bones are still completely free. This style is perfect for Hunter/Jumper, Endurance, Dressage, and Eventing riders, as well as for everyday schooling.
Half Seat ($157.95): This style is in-between the full seat and dressage patch. The Deerskin half seat provides additional grip through your seat bones without feeling stuck to the saddle. Perfect for those riders who prefer some additional grip and protection through the seat. The leather starts four inches below the knee and continues through the crotch seam.
Hunt Patch ($129.95): For those who prefer a more traditional style of breech, as well as minimal grip to the saddle. The patch is larger than most traditional knee patches, starting three inches below the knee to create a functional breech whether you wear tall or short boots. The Deerskin patch protects the knee area where it is in constant contact with the saddle and adds a small amount of grip. Popular with Hunter/Jumper and Youth riders.
Leather Colors: Leather is available in Black, Slate, Green Tea, Plum, Tan, White, Gold,
Rust, Turquoise, Red, Royal Blue, and Leopard (additonal cost applies for Leopard
leather - call to order). You can choose the same
fabric and leather colors, or you can mix and match to
fit your own style. Because there are no matching leather colors,
Navy fabric comes with Black leather, and Charcoal and Spruce fabrics come with Slate leather.
These breeches come standard in a pull-on style, or you can add a zipper and snap closure (front or side zip) for $18, belt loops for $13, or both for $27.
You can also add 10" long deerskin fringe for $81, a cell phone pocket for $13, or a
front slash pocket for $31. Available in ladies sizes 24-36 regular and long. Also available in custom and

A Note about the Stars: Deerskin leather is a by-product of a
wild animal and there are usually naturally occurring blemishes
from the deer rubbing up against trees, fences, and the like. Equissentials
covers these blemishes with random sized stars. A pair of Equissentials breeches
may have none, one, or several stars. They have become so popular that
some customers event request additional stars on their breeches. Call or email us
if you have a special star request!
We do keep a few of these breeches in stock, but they are normally
a special order item, so please allow extra time for delivery.
